Designing Learning Activities and Instructional Systems SpringerLink

instructional system design

” Instructional designers listen to these answers and, through this discovery process, begin to arrive at the how. When initially working with SMEs, designers must listen and question. (It is the discovery phase, not the tell them everything you know phase!) Ask big, overarching, open-ended questions that lead the SME to begin telling the story of their course. Encourage SMEs to not filter out ideas because they think they cannot be done; encourage big, exploratory thinking and questions at this stage.

Why Instructional Design?

However, many professionals earn degrees in social science, communication, English, and education, begin as teachers and instructors, and eventually move into instructional design. However, a career in education doesn’t necessarily mean teaching; other career paths include education administration, consulting, and even instructional design. One of the primary aspects of the discovery stage in design thinking is empathy mapping (Gibbons, 2018). Figure 6 shows a common structure for a learner-aggregated empathy map, and Figure 7 shows a sample of a completed learner empathy map for prospective students in a nursing course. In backward design (Wiggins & McTighe, 2011), the final assessment is considered first.

Introduction to Instructional Systems Design

Esseff and Esseff synthesized existing theories to develop their approach to systematic design, "Guaranteed Learning" aka "Instructional Development Learning System" (IDLS). Esseffs created an eLearning course to enable participants to take the GL course online under the direction of Esseff. Another well-known instructional design model is the Dick and Carey Systems Approach Model.[60] The model was originally published in 1978 by Walter Dick and Lou Carey in their book entitled The Systematic Design of Instruction. Many institutions offer a bachelor’s degree in instructional design.

Instructional Design Models

Maybe sometimes the Instructional Design process may be difficult to put into practice due to business constraints, time, and SME availability but, if it is possible, you will have a clear path, for sure. When you purchase a Certificate you get access to all course materials, including graded assignments. Upon completing the course, your electronic Certificate will be added to your Accomplishments page - from there, you can print your Certificate or add it to your LinkedIn profile. If you only want to read and view the course content, you can audit the course for free. When you create a section of your curriculum in which you present a set of directions on how to do a task, don’t just have them memorize the steps.

instructional system design

It begins with an in-intensity evaluation of the learners and their need, followed via the design of instructional materials, improvement of these materials, implementation, and a non-stop evaluation loop. The iterative nature of ADDIE permits for refinement primarily based on remarks, making it adaptable to diverse getting to know contexts. Analysis refers to the gathering of information about one's audience, the tasks to be completed, how the learners will view the content, and the project's overall goals. The instructional designer then classifies the information to make the content more applicable and successful. An instructional designer should be well versed in the available quality-review tools, their implementation, and their utility throughout the design and development process to inform quality design decisions. The period after the interviews, charter, and alignment is a prime opportunity for the designer to establish the beginning of a vision and narrative.

Comparisons to Related Fields

Table 0.2 illustrates the differences between PT and systematic design in further detail. Piles of papers to grade and records to keep combine to cause some to delay grading papers or issuing feedback. Instead, design courses to have shorter, yet more effective assessments to keep a handle on the workload. Students learn better from feedback soon after the assessment, while the work is still fresh on their minds.

ARCS MODEL

In each instance, the final experience will look and feel different. Whatever the final experience, it should be learner-centered (meaningful, pleasurable, effective), achieving the goals and mission stated in interviews and the charters. For example, problem-based learning (PBL) is often utilized in medical education. PBL is well suited for ill-structured problems, case studies, and nonlinear learning without extensive scaffolding.

Theories such as behaviorism, constructivism, social learning, and cognitivism help shape and define the outcome of instructional materials. Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is a way of thinking about teaching and designing learning experiences so that all students, of varying abilities and talents, have equal opportunity to learn (CAST, 2019). Universal design is not the same as accessibility (discussed later in this chapter). Whereas accessibility is focused on ensuring access, universal design is focused on ensuring opportunities to learn. A learning (or instructional) framework is a system of related theories, concepts, and approaches that drives methods of designing instruction and teaching people. Frameworks are rooted in particular learning and teaching paradigms, include one or more learning theories, and often have affordances and weaknesses in different situations, contexts, and purposes.

instructional system design

In the EdSurge article “UX to LX, The Rise of Learner Experience Design” (2016), Kilgore represented design thinking through the learner experience design lens. This model (Figure 4) closely aligns with how designers approach the application of design thinking in instructional design. While this model is also nonlinear (hence the dotted lines indicating returning to iterate), there are phases in the design process where different aspects of design thinking are emphasized, and discrete stages occur. High-quality instruction promotes effective knowledge transference and facilitates the application of knowledge to the workplace. The Dick and Carey model portray the ID process as a curvilinear flow using one-way arrows. It considers the entire learning ecosystem when designing learning content, including aspects such as the instructor, learners, learning materials, instructional activities, delivery system, and the learning and performance environment.

In most cases, it’s unlikely that Learning and Development (L&D) professionals will accomplish the above objectives by simply providing verbal or written instructions. For example, knowledge transference and application won’t happen from bullet-point text or check lists. Success depends on the thoughtful design of instructions that target specific learning outcomes. They differ in that systematic design begins with the assumption that instruction is the best method for enhancing human performance.

The model specifies tools and techniques for analyzing, designing, developing and formatively evaluating instruction based Gagnes five domains of learning. Gagnes domains, in turn, is an instructional theory that is based on cognitive information processing theories of learning. A central pillar of mainstream ID processes is knowing who the target audience is, and what their learning styles are. The process informs and guides the instructional systems designer into making data-informed, evidence-based decisions about user interfaces, course features and functionality, and the most appropriate learning experiences to deliver. No organization likes having “unique” learning processes at every location, department, branch, or subsidiary.

Finally, one often overlooked benefit of using instructional design, to develop learning content, is that the process remains flexible and responsive. In this module, we will discuss two important analyses of the instructional design process. First, we will learn context analysis, consisting of needs assessment and learning environment analysis. It involves a systematic process for the assessment and development of training solutions, designed specifically for formal training delivery. This stage allows the instructional designer to test all materials to determine if they are functional and appropriate for the intended audience. Most instructional designers work on-site alongside teachers, professors, company executives, and school board members, depending on your role.

The facilitators’ training should cover the course curriculum, learning outcomes, method of delivery, and testing procedures. Preparation of the learners include training them on new tools (software or hardware), student registration. Instructional theories also play an important role in the design of instructional materials. Theories such as behaviorism, constructivism, social learning and cognitivism help shape and define the outcome of instructional materials. We look at talent development holistically, we understand how instructional design fits with evaluation, training, evaluation and other aspects of workplace learning.

Make sure your SMEs are also working with the technical writers to review the course design document—to have a final version of the course story before starting the part with the authoring tool. Once the outline content is agreed upon and approved, you can start collaborating with the technical writers on the first course content document design. This document allows you to have the course written in order to use it as a resource for your eLearning course. In select learning programs, you can apply for financial aid or a scholarship if you can’t afford the enrollment fee.

Other reflections will reveal iterations that must wait for a refresh cycle of the course—ideally, immediately after the course is taught for the first time. If the instructor keeps a reflection log of these questions, asked at the end of each module, this log will serve as a valuable data resource for continual improvement. These strategies help designers to understand the learners and where they come from, and to gain insight into who they are and the context in which they live, work, and learn. Just as one cannot head in the right direction without knowing one’s destination, designers cannot make the right design decisions without knowing who they are designing for and why. This second lens of feasibility also means that when innovating, new ideas should not be discarded simply because they have yet to be tried. If the innovation is learner-centered and grounded in how people learn, and if the idea is feasible to accomplish given the context, it can be implemented and tested through a design thinking process. But the pleasurable, meaningful experiences represented by the top two levels of the hierarchy are where real transformation in identity and outcome occur. Exceptional instructional design never stops at convenience; it continuously strives toward pleasurable, meaningful learning.

The Instructional Design Process In 11 Simple Steps

Whatever the final experience, it should be learner-centered (meaningful, pleasurable, effective), achieving the goals and mission stated in interviews and the charters. For example, problem-based learning (PBL) is often utilized in medical education. PBL is well suited for ill-structured problems, case studies, and nonlinear learning without extensive scaffolding.

Instructional design

In an eLearning situation, it may be more difficult to connect students with one another—but it’s essential to expand one’s learning. Encourage online chat with one another, as well as meetups for those who live near another student. Conversations about the material taught and its practical applications often bear much fruit when it comes to internalizing facts and concepts. Not only that, but a course whose design includes such opportunities can forge connections that help students expand their professional networks to find more job opportunities and the chance to advance in their respective fields. Leverage your students’ life experiences to teach new skills and knowledge. If, for instance, your students are learning how to roll thin, see-through sheets of baklava and they have already learned to roll out plain pie pastry, build on that skill to teach the more difficult skill of rolling out baklava sheets.

How ATD Can Help You With Instructional Design?

These strategies help designers to understand the learners and where they come from, and to gain insight into who they are and the context in which they live, work, and learn. On the other hand, direct instruction is often employed in mathematics education, where it is well suited for well-structured problems, worked examples, modeling, feedback, and systematic scaffolding. This is not to say that medical education does not engage in direct instruction, and of course mathematics education can also engage in problem-based learning. However, there often is a “learning recipe” of frameworks that an instructional designer will choose to guide the vision and narrative of the course. Systematic design is defined as an orderly and iterative process for generating instructional solutions to performance problems based on a combination of practical experience, research and theory. The orientation characterized the systematic design process by identifying key tasks and interim products, benefits and limitations and its relationship to related fields of study.

Instructional Design Models

The purpose of quality instructional design is not just to design learning for students; it is also done to set instructors up for success in teaching. Exceptional instructional design enables the instructor to focus on facilitation, intervention, and feedback in online and blended settings, whatever the learning framework and instructional strategies used. Quality learner experiences often parallel quality teaching experiences. Again, in the spirit of rapid prototyping, the goal is to get feedback early and often; as such, designers should prototype as early as possible in the design process. To prototype an idea is to fully build out as much of the learning experience as possible to get a feel for the direction it is heading in, and to test it—for example, building out a module or a portion of an interactive.

Following several iterative changes to ADDIE, the final step, Evaluation, became a milestone repeated after every other step (e.g., Evaluate your Analysis, Evaluate your Design…etc.). The U.S. Navy also customized its own version of ADDIE, by introducing a Planning phase at the beginning of each ADDIE cycle, and appending an ongoing Maintenance (or content review, update, and upgrade) phase at the end.

It was the predecessor to Mid Century Modern design, which primarily dealt with graphic design, architecture, and furniture (more on this below). You can find modest tract homes built between 1945 and 1960 in the flats section of Burbank.

However, the movement became popularized in the 1950s, so some of the original mid-century modern homes will be from that era. Since then, the movement — including architecture and interior design elements, furniture, and accessories — has only grown. The appeal of the mid-century modern style comes from its ability to nod toward nostalgia while taking steps toward modern living. This old-meets-new style combines simple designs with dramatic accents to create something almost effortlessly beautiful. Attention to detail is evident in the choice of materials and fixtures throughout the house.

Under a cedar tongue and groove ceiling, the open living room centers around views of the water and the colorful Roche Bobois Mahjong Sofa in Missoni fabrics. The Vitis 5 chandelier from RBW adds a sculptural statement above without overpowering the space. It was one of a handful of homes built under commission from Arts & Architecture magazine. The homes built under the sponsorship are collectively known as Case Study Houses.

Mid-century modern home designs adapt incredibly well to different landscapes and also to neighborhoods—you'll find plenty that offer privacy from the street while opening up in back. Mid-century modern homes have open-concept floor plans with large windows and simplified lines inside and out. Rooflines can be flat, angled, or hipped, which means the homes in this category are more diverse than most. Mid-century modern homes take a minimalist approach and eschew decorative features in favor of building simple organic modern or biophilic designs with wood, stone, concrete, and glass.

Midcentury Modern design originated in the 1930s and became popular during the 1950s and 60s. These homes provided a contrast to the more traditional home styles like Craftsman or Victorian. These homes are known for innovative layouts that feature open living areas and wide walls of windows, particularly to the rear of the home. The numerous windows connect you with the outdoors, while the open spaces inside the home allow its residents to connect with each other. Many designs resemble more traditional Ranch homes while others make use of flat or gently sloped roofs and asymmetric floor plans to create a truly unique look.

These plans typically feature open floor plans, large windows, integration with nature, and a focus on simplicity and functionality. Characterized by clean lines, low-pitched or flat rooflines, organic shapes, and an emphasis on indoor-outdoor living, mid-century modern house plans celebrate the marriage of form and function. This 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom Mid Century Modern house plan features 2,557 sq ft of living space. America's Best House Plans offers high quality plans from professional architects and home designers across the country with a best price guarantee. Our extensive collection of house plans are suitable for all lifestyles and are easily viewed and readily available when you begin the process of building your dream home.

Beverly Hills Prime Steak, Fresh Seafood, Fish

Indulge in an impressive menu of seafood and prime cuts of steak, signature cocktails, and a Wine Spectator-honored wine list. It’s always a reliable meal at Pasadena’s Alexander’s Steakhouse, where certified Angus prime rib is sold in 12 ounce and 20 ounce portions until it’s gone. Here the meat is sold a la carte with only horseradish and au jus included, so be sure to tack on those classic steakhouse sides.

New York City

Sure it comes at a price, but those gleaming silver pushcarts have chefs slicing meat and preparing dishes right before your eyes. Don’t forget to schedule The Arthur J’s Saturday prime rib special into personal calendars. Chef David LeFevre cooks a rib roast in a parsley and rosemary salt crust and serves it with with au jus and the restaurant’s creamy horseradish.

Prime & Providence also marks the first time Demant built an oyster case, which will sit to the right of the grill and have its own bar seating. “I'd been a huge fan of his work,” said Iannerelli, who saw Demant’s grills in person at chef and restaurateur Sean Brock’s Southern restaurant June in Nashville. Located just steps from Rodeo Drive, on Wilshire Blvd, at the Apex of Camden Drive & Dayton Way, Ocean Prime is an ideal place to socialize, talk business, celebrate and indulge. From our main dining room, to our lounge, Apex Bar, three stunning private dining rooms and expansive outdoor terrace, guests can enjoy the vibrant energy of Beverly Hills from any area of our restaurant.

Part local haunt, part karaoke bar and all steak-y kitsch, Torrance’s The San Franciscan has been dishing shrimp cocktails and signature three quarter pound slices of prime rib since 1963. First opened in 1953, Taylor’s Steakhouse moved to their current location on 8th Street in 1970, then watched as the the neighborhood completely shifted through the decades. This longtime Koreatown staple still serves their ten-ounce sirloin culotte steaks, and sitting in the red naugahyde booths is as fun as ever. Readers may have seen Demant’s work on “The Menu,” the 2022 thriller from “Succession” director Mark Mylod and starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Ralph Fiennes.

Smoke House Restaurant

There’s something wonderfully old school about George Petrelli, which serves excellent, bone-in prime rib roast with sides for under $40 a serving. Though the beef is choice grade, it’s dry-aged and then cut on premises for maximum flavor. To share, the Tomahawk Ribeye with a distinctive flavor is just perfect! If you’re trying the Tomahawk steak cut at Ruth’s Chris for the first time, we suggest you bring a friend – a good one. For a classic one, the New York Strip is more than a steak house favorite, providing a full-flavored and tender steak experience that you can’t find elsewhere. Featured in the movie Swingers and serving Los Feliz for decades, this old-time restaurant along Vermont Avenue is a true throwback untouched by the passage of time.

Settle down with the classic Steak Tartare, which savors first with the eyes, then the taste buds. Then grab the Porcini Rubbed Bone-In Ribeye served with 15-year aged balsamic, and your palate will scream of happiness! For a more hearty choice, their Bone-In Kona Crusted Dry-Aged NY Strip will surely satisfy you. We highly recommend the Culotte, a cut taken from the top cap of the sirloin and comparatively tender and flavorful. For a different preparation of your beef, get the Ribeye Sandwich or beef-eater dip, way more casual but won’t be disappointed.

Tiki has been alive and well in Glendale since the 1930’s, at Damon’s Steak House. The prime rib is still the draw here, though the outrageously neon interior is its own reason to go. Or, rather, reverts back to the 1950’s, when Baked Alaska, pepper steaks and hand-spun salads hit each table, and the room looks like a plastic jungle of fake foliage. Demant also installed his grill at Ilis, a Brooklyn restaurant from Mads Refslund, formerly of Noma, as well as at Kevin Fink’s Hestia in Austin, Texas, and Southall Farm & Inn in Franklin, Tennessee. Owner Chris Demant came from Atlanta to personally oversee the installation of the equipment in the kitchen at the restaurant opening in May.

JW Steakhouse

There's a nightly prime rib on the menu served with potato and a choice of linguine or wild rice. This all-night and all-day restaurant serves a mean prime rib in 14 ounce and eight ounce sizes. The prime-grade beef is a nice alternative to the grilled steaks most people order here. They are best known for their expertly prepared steaks, which are dry-aged in-house for 18 to 24 days and then hand-cut by the restaurant’s on-premise butcher.

The NY Strip Steak is undoubtedly a must-try and don’t hesitate to ask for their house-made STK sauce to have along with it. Commerce’s longtime corner spot known as Steven’s Steak House has been serving up thick plates of prime rib to late night diners for half a century, and still does brisk business with locals and the post-casino crowd. A nice throwback restaurant tucked away on this northern part of Santa Monica just across from the beach, Golden Bull got a revamp from Mark Verge and has a new chef in Greg Daniels to oversee the midcentury bill of fare. The highlight of the menu might be the excellent prime rib, cooked nicely and then doused with jus. For seafood lovers, you can’t miss the amazing Salmon Rockefeller or Trio of Lobster Tails. A carefully curated wine list and handcrafted cocktails are also reasons why Lawry’s The Prime Rib is one of the top places to dine in Beverly Hills.

Enjoy live entertainment at the bar seven nights a week while sipping on hand-crafted cocktails and eclectic wines. Mastro's is committed to delivering an unforgettable experience, every time. Experience exquisite wines, the freshest seafood, the finest prime steak, and genuine service. This modern American restaurant at the classic Mayfair has been completely revamped for a decadent, sleek look just west of Downtown LA. The prime rib here comes off a rotisserie and comes with braised greens and horseradish potato puree for a mere $35 a serving. The steak menu is divided into “small” (filet medallion, skirt steak), “medium” (sirloin, bone-in filet), and “large” (Porterhouse, ribeye) and accompaniments consist of dishes.

This nearly century-old restaurant in Atwater Village is the progenitor to the Lawry's Prime Rib empire, with more humble Scottish-style appointments inside and a more approachable price point. Every dish comes with Yorkshire pudding plus a choice of sides, though the mashed potatoes and creamed spinach always work best.

Torrance legend The San Franciscan has been hawking its old school menu of American classics for decades. Chef Dominic Iannerelli, who most recently served as executive chef and director of restaurants for Splash Seafood and Jethro’s BBQ and worked with the company for 23 years, left to open his own restaurant this spring. Prime & Providence promises to bring a modern twist to the steak and seafood genre when it opens at 595 S. The granddaddy of prime rib in Los Angeles, this massive dining hall serves what might be the city's best prime rib.

You can start by fully customizing the text, icons and colors to match industry standards. Moreover, desktop publishing software — software that is intended for the production of printed materials — is a much better choice for creating brochures. This means that a desktop publishing software like InDesign will be much more efficient than vector graphics software like Illustrator. Designing a brochure doesn’t have to take up too much time and effort.

This material does not easily crease, so your brochures will look as crisp as the day they were printed. We recommend a minimum resolution of 300 dpi for quality printing results. Printing House: Fitness Club in NYC with Pool

equinox printing house

Nearly all of the Equinox locations in Downtown Manhattan had a unique feel, seemingly catering to the younger crowd that lives and works below 40th street. Studios that inspire you to perform and luxury amenities that keep you feeling your best. A spin-off of INDIE PRINTING, INDIE DESK set out to provide freelancers in any industry, a space to work from. We are an environmentally conscious printing company built as a solution for the impossible turnaround, the budget conscious startup, and the need for a company who takes a personal approach to quality, without compromise.

I worked out at all 34 Equinox locations in New York City. Here's how they all compare.

I visited at multiple times of the day and it seemed like it was always bustling. The front includes a full juice press with cafe seating, where anyone can come in and grab something to drink. This is similar to a lot of other Equinox locations, but in Flatiron, home to New York's own brand of startup hustle and grind, it's turned into a full-on workspace.

How to ensure that your business envelopes are making the right impression?

It is our duty to constantly produce quality, affordable, and environmentally responsible print products every single time. The club has an indoor lap pool, and after swimming, you can go to the locker room or Equinox Spa to relax in style. Figure 4 Barre, unique to Equinox Printing House, is a revolutionary program combining ballet, yoga, and strength training.

E clubs are designed around Tier X training, and E Madison's floor is sparse by design.

An overzealous toilet paper user had seemingly ripped off more than he could use, and there were scraps of toilet paper all over the bathroom floor. On my first visit, the location was hard to fault — it was beautiful, sparkling clean, and basically empty. When I returned a month later, I realized the early morning light of 6 a.m.

The top things to do on an East Coast road trip

Equinox's SoHo location is probably the best indication that the company is reaching its desired demographic. The class I took was full of chiseled Chelsea regulars who the yoga instructor knew by name. As they competed for the best handstand in the front, I stayed in child's pose in the back. The entrance of Equinox Highline doesn't feel glamorous, falling under the elevated park and looking onto 10th Avenue, but once inside, the location is striking.

Equinox Printing House Kids Club Hours

The sheer size of the Sports Club, which used to be owned by Reebok before Equinox acquired it in 2014, is impressive. Equinox's core amenities include cardio equipment, strength equipment, Kiehl's products in the locker rooms, a steam room, showers, a cycling studio, and a group fitness studio. Some base-level gyms have other features like boxing rooms, barre rooms, heated yoga rooms, and pools. The Equinox Printing House club in Hudson Square has high-end features like a rooftop pool, sundeck, yoga studio, barre studio, pilates studio, cycling studio, steam rooms, and locker rooms with laundry service.

One long mirror created a sort of group vanity situation, which was a better option than most Equinox locker rooms that have a handful of vanity stations at the end of each row of locker room, which usually end up not being enough. Once upstairs, you're met with a large lobby with tons of furniture and space to relax. Past the lobby is a hair salon along with the store found in every Equinox where you can buy premium sportswear and Kiehl's products. The steam room was packed, and there was only standing room when I visited.

It also seems to contradict what is now a core tenant of E's brand — privacy. Throughout my experience, E was off limits in terms of photos because of privacy concerns for their members, according to the company. But the training space at Columbus Circle was wholly viewable from the pool open to all Equinox members. With the membership, you have access to every Equinox gym around the world, including the E clubs and spaces. The scale was also an old analog one rather than the fancy digital scales I saw at a majority of locations.

The locker rooms were untidy and outdated.

We offer more than just ink and paper, we are also a software company incubating 2 startups. This article I have created to give you complete information about Equinox Printing House, with the services you get. The spa at Equinox has experts who can help people with injuries caused by training get better faster. You can get stronger while you stretch with Studio Pilates, Virtual Pilates, and unlimited Mat Pilates classes.

The locker rooms were moderately clean, but there was a puddle problem outside the steam room both times I visited, where I almost slipped. The yoga class I took seemed much more crowded than what I saw at East 53rd, suggesting that maybe the Midtown crowd had caught on to which location may provide a better experience. Unlike most Executive Locker Rooms, East 44th's had its own steam room and showers, along with a nice looking lounge area. When I visited one person was inside, unlike the normal room, which was cramped.

Once you get to the floors with the actual equipment, the selling point is clear. Like the Sports Club, access to Printing House comes through either a destination membership or a membership to the gym that's $210, slightly higher than Equinox's average gym. Equinox's Sports Club New York, found a few blocks from Columbus Circle on the Upper West Side, is one of Equinox's most impressive locations, even though it falls a tier below the brand's top offerings. The real standout of the gym is its tiered spin studio, which makes for a cinematic cycling experience. Patrons are forced to check in on the ground floor, walk up to the second floor, and then walk across the entire gym, so they can go down another flight of stairs to the locker rooms. The layout isn't ideal, but isn't awfully burdensome because of the gym's small size.

equinox printing house

Like a handful of other locations, Equinox Printing House has been sued by tenants of the building it occupies. The New York Post cites court papers referring to group fitness classes, "the particular song is easily identifiable, and I can even follow along with the lyrics." Like similar cases, the issue was resolved out of court. The outdoor pool, which includes lounge and sun-bathing space, is probably the other main selling point in the summer, but it's only open 3 months out of the year, and definitely isn't big enough to swim laps in.

Equinox Printing House Sports and fitness in West Village, New York

Early morning yoga overlooking the Highline is a super cool and unique experience. I'd imagine I wouldn't feel the same once the attraction is flooded with tourists taking pictures of you in tree pose, but it's still a fun novelty. "Queer Eye's" Antoni Porowski, who was a sponsored brand ambassador, and Anderson Cooper have been photographed here multiple times. Here's an overall guide to Equinox memberships in New York, what every location is like, and my personal rating of every gym out of 10. What I discovered was a vast network of gyms at various price points with different amenities, aesthetics, and services.

East 61st Street: A hidden Equinox gem available for the price of the lowest tier.

In the same way that other gyms have “barbell cafes,” Equinox stores have a variety of products that will help customers enjoy their time at the fitness studio. The manager who showed me the space wasn't blind to the disparity between E Madison and Columbus Circle. He openly complained about how Equinox's efforts to build out the E brand left his space in a rut.

CLUB FEATURES

In New York City, where space is the most valuable asset around, Sports Club New York feels like a goldmine. The effect is only amplified by the fact that fewer people (presumably) can afford the membership, which creates more space than the average Equinox gym. The spacious locker rooms are able to accommodate everyone, but the steam room is one of the smallest I've seen at any Equinox.

East 85th Street: Old but good.

You had to bring your own lock, but at least the front desk offered me one without me having to ask. The locker rooms were average size, but the steam room was notably large. The group class I took there (in the middle of the day on a weekday) felt like a fitness class out of "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel", full of Upper East Side housewives and grandmas.

Brooklyn has three locations — two are pretty nice and one feels like a motel gym.

The showers have slightly older fixtures and features and seemed to have modulation pressure issues, but all in all the expansiveness and cleanliness was impressive. The floors and locker rooms themselves were also notably tiny, with a small amount of equipment and space on each floor. The locker rooms were nice and spacious, but the steam room was super small. This was one of the few Equinox's I've been to with no Juice Press, just vending machines. A notably high number of staff members kept this location very clean — even the steam room, which wasn't the case for most locations. Unlike some of its nearby Equinox neighbors, the Bryant Park location feels spacious and warm, with a concrete and wood interior that is almost entirely subterranean.

This is seemingly the overarching idea of Equinox's luxury brand, but the concept is actually realized at the Sports Club. During peak hours, the number of people crammed into the small space feels ridiculous. Equinox has been slow to expand into Brooklyn, perhaps because its brand clashes with much of Brooklyn's counter-cultural, or at least closer-to-working-class, sensibility. But as the borough rapidly gentrifies, the company has invested in a few locations in the borough. The staff was friendly and roamed around handing out towels, there was a daycare, and the steam room worked, but felt weak, probably because it was too big and cavernous to feel the small amount of steam that was being emitted.

Equinox has 29 locations in Brooklyn and Manhattan that are accessible with their $260 a month "all access" membership.

AriesYour Virgo full moon is leaving you feeling unmoored this month, and the planetary pull of Mercury is interfering with your sense of purpose. Now is the perfect time to heed that warning, just like how Bess should absolutely see a dermatologist about the spot on her back that developed during her pregnancy. I know she says it’s just a “skin tag” that her general practitioner (who saw her on Zoom, by the way) says is “normal,” but the approaching vernal equinox means it’s possibly Cancer.

Bond Street

Paying for a single gym can cost anywhere between $185 and $220 per month, typically with a $300 initiation fee, varying by gym and offers available. A destination membership allows you access to all clubs except for E clubs and costs $300 per month on top of a $500 initiation fee. And an E membership gives you access to all clubs, costing $500 per month on top of a $750 initiation fee. Axiom Designs and Printing is a Los Angeles based printing company specialized in full color offset, digital and large format printing services.

Gramercy: One of the nicest of Equinox's corporate convenience locations.

The Destination membership is a tier below E, but still gives you access to Equinoxes special locations and Sports Clubs, which have unique features and amenities. The yoga and group studios were spacious, but the yoga studio's placement right outside the locker rooms and directly under the group fitness rooms makes for a somewhat distracting experience. Housed in a luxury tower built by its parent company, Related Companies, this Equinox spans multiple floors. In the basement level is one of two "playgrounds" for Equinox's CrossFit-Style PGX classes.

From what I could tell, it had a lot of cardio machines, some cable-assisted weight equipment, and fewer free weights. Equinox Orchard's locker rooms did not live up to expectations set by the rest of the gym. The layout felt notably cramped, with huge benches creating gridlock near lockers, and towels were strewn about among what appeared to be dried, spilled coffee on the floor. The other reason it could be compared to a community center is because more than almost any other Equinox location that I visited, there seemed to be a sense of community at this location. Each time I've visited, I've noticed friends greeting each other like old pals.

Appropriately, the level of luxury at E Madison is pretty much unparalleled for New York consumer gyms. Tier X is the real selling point, but an E membership comes with a heightened level of luxury according to the company. On the second floor of the gym, next to the outdoor pool, Equinox has opened a cafe that will serve you drinks and food poolside, or at a table. Unlike the Sports Club and Printing House, which were developed as Equinox gyms in the wake of gyms that had previously occupied those spaces, Hudson Yards was designed and built as an Equinox from the ground up.

Our company works very hard every day to please our clients with presenting high quality work and making sure that all printing projects are completed within given specs and turnaround. Our major objective not only is to provide clients with the best printing and marketing results, but to stay in long term business relationships with our customers. If you are searching for a near by print shop for one stop solution for your printing and marketing needs, visit our Los Angeles printing company. The fitness area is simply a square floor with weights, resistance bands, some cardio equipment, and not much else. Where E Madison's sparseness felt elevated, the Columbus Circle location simply felt empty.

The gym floor feels like a large office space, with two sides of weights and cardio connected by a hallway in the middle, a frequent layout found in office buildings. The giant group fitness studio overlooks the famous Atlas statue, which is pretty cool when it comes to gym ambiance. Its three functional fitness floors had ample room for stretching and all the necessary equipment without feeling cramped. Each time I visited, it didn't feel crowded, but there was also a ton of space if needed — Yelp reviewers testify that the after-work rush can get crazy.

Axiom Designs and Printing is a one stop place for all your advertisement needs. Our specialty is rush same day printing and next day printing turnarounds as well as high quality printing in very short turnaround time. You can get your business cards within 2-3 business days for just $9.99 anywhere in US. If your business is located outside of Los Angeles don’t hesitate to contact us for affordable printing and shipping rates. The gym also has specially designed Woodway treadmills that were specifically designed for the gym's hit Precision Run treadmill classes, along with large open spaces for yoga, pilates, and other studio classes.

Nude cruises: Voyages where you can take it all off

nude cruise

These cruises not only provide a unique opportunity to connect with oneself but also to forge meaningful connections with like-minded individuals from around the world. The social atmosphere on clothing-optional cruises is welcoming, friendly, and non-judgmental, fostering an environment where guests can enjoy the company of others who share their desire for freedom and self-expression. The demographic on nude cruises is broad, with adults of all ages sailing. According to the AANR, nude recreation enthusiasts typically are active, college-educated people between the ages of 35 and 65 who enjoy outdoor recreation and activities. The Big Kahuna of nude cruises is Austin, Texas-based Bare Necessities, founded in 1990. The company pioneered clothing-optional ship charters, and its trips take over entire vessels.

For Royal Caribbean’s vessels in the fleet, including the Mariner, all of them are being transformed in a $500,000,000 upgrade and facelift “Amplified” program. Enhancements include installing exclusive additions for suite guests plus wall-to-wall new staterooms and suites to include new technology and designs throughout the Mariner. No, nude cruises have an adults-only policy and you won't see children onboard.

The raunchy voyage is billed as an authentic fantasy-sea playground for couples looking to explore their wildest dreams at sea. The cruise will depart Tampa for a five-day trip to George Town, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel before sailing back to Tampa on Tuesday morning. Bliss Cruise, LLV, and Desire Cruises reign as other top choices in the nude cruise arena, though offerings by these companies often have swingers' cruise elements. Bliss was born in 2014 through a collaboration with three industry partners, set sail to pioneer adult, clothing-optional luxury ships exclusively for couples seeking worldwide adventures.

It was around this time that mainstream cruise lines started taking a hard look at specialty charters with Bare Necessities. Carnival Cruise Lines gave them their first chance at a larger ship when they sailed on the 1500-passenger Jubilee in 2001. Bliss Cruise charters are for adults, clothing optional couples only 21 years of age and older.

Best Clothing-Optional Cruises

Always follow the captain's announcements regarding when clothing is required, especially during port visits or formal events like the captain's cocktail party. Bare Necessities reports that 70% of its clients are repeat cruisers, so annual voyages tend to feel a bit like a reunion for past passengers. As noted on the Bare Necessities website, the ship's decor is appropriate for a nudist vacation.

The ship charter was a cooperative event with Castaways Travel clients plus folks from British Naturism and Ashdene Nudist Resort near Manchester, England. The ultimate nude cruise is coming to the high seas in the winter of 2022. At the end of every nude cruise they’ve organized, the folks at Bare Necessities say they get one request. And with their upcoming 75th charter, they’re granting that much-uttered wish by creating the ultimate bucket list for those who love truly getting in touch with nature. Displaying yourself nude in front of other ships in port (including on your verandah) or while port authorities are on board the vessel for clearance is strictly prohibited. On another occasion at sea, the marina at the back of the boat was opened so we could swim, kayak or just lazily float directly in the sea.

Interior dining space

You must be dressed for meals on swingers' cruises, though outfits range widely, from vacation casual to skimpy see-through dresses. Some cruises are clothing-optional, while others are more geared toward partner swapping. You don't have to be a swinger to partake in such a cruise; many people go simply for the open-minded atmosphere. Temptation Cruises is a relative newcomer, having launched its all-inclusive Caribbean cruise in 2020. You may even see signs of the lifestyle on mainstream cruise lines and regularly scheduled itineraries, where an upside down pineapple on a door can signify a couple that's open to playing.

Does the crew wear clothing?

So if you should hit it off with that really cool couple you’re seated with at dinner, you have the option of exchanging a lot more than email addresses. But there are parts of the ship where anything goes — and they do mean anything. Yes, we’ve been to Croatia, Split, and Dubrovnik and sailed the Adriatic several times. One reason many of the Bare Necessities regulars have requested longer cruises is that they come from far-flung locations such as Australia or Europe, so the extended voyages make taking the trip all the more worthwhile.

If you have the inquisitive travel bug and want to explore new places and cultures, and where naturism is a theme but not the only reason for travel, a voyage on a smaller schooner may be for you. Either way, pack light – hat, sunscreen, pareo (a wrap-around skirt), towel and flip flops. Currently, they have five adults-only nude cruises planned, with the first in November 2023 onboard Celebrity Equinox. This 6-night cruise will depart from Fort Lauderdale, Florida and sail to Labadee, Haiti and Cozumel, Mexico. The Temptation cruise will feature the Red Room, a lifestyle-friendly space for couples to experiment with sexuality. There will also be themed parties, like a 1980s-inspired “Let’s Glow” neon event and a “Onezie Funzie” adult sleepover party.

They provide a chance to relax, unwind, and make meaningful connections with other travelers from around the world. For some, the idea of a clothing-optional cruise may be unfamiliar or even intimidating. However, this extraordinary travel experience can be incredibly liberating, empowering, and even life-changing for those who dare to venture beyond societal norms. Whether you’re a naturist seeking the ultimate getaway or a curious traveler looking to try something new, clothing-optional cruises offer a one-of-a-kind vacation experience. Would you like your Cruisers Experience to include some off-shore multi-day sailing with overnight passages?

Any cabin purchased via Castaways Travel for this Bliss Cruise is for the cabin ONLY. Also, some cabins may have different amenities during a Bliss Cruise charter. Choices of the day for sport fishing, bill fishing and more, set your sites on tuna, marlin, bluefin tuna, wahoo and bonefish…what the island’s known for. Ernest Hemingway hung out there years ago and maybe helped popularize this island getaways.
